If Music be The Food

"If Music Be The Food..." is a collaboration between the University of South Florida, Carrollwood Cultural Center and Tampa Bay Harvest, in response to reports in the news of increased need for food aid the Tampa Bay community. This is a classical chamber music outreach, arranged by cellist and USF music professor Scott Kluksdahl, that aligns members of the USF School of Music faculty and student performers with guests from The Florida Orchestra, University of Tampa, other Tampa Bay artistic institutions, and distinguished national guest artists - all of whom join together and donate their services for these concerts. Likewise, the Carrollwood Cultural Center is donating the space and staff for this outreach. Audience members are asked to bring whatever non-perishable food items or cash donations they can offer for Tampa Bay Harvest as the price of admission. Any donation will gratefully be accepted. Every donation and every cash donation will go completely towards the cause of hunger in the Tampa Bay community.

The mission of “If Music Be the Food…” is to increase awareness and support for the hungry in our community through chamber music performances of the highest caliber. "If Music Be The Food..." is part of a national movement of other prominent institutions in the United States inspired by the Rochester-based initiative in our own community.

Two concerts will occur during the 2012-13 season free of charge on Sunday, November 18th 2012 at 2:00 p.m. and on Sunday, February 10th 2013 at 2:00 p.m.

Rochester) - with members of the USF School of Music faculty and student body, University of Tampa, members of The Florida Orchestra, Tampa Bay Master Chorale's conductor James Bass, and Tampa's gifted young teen-age soprano Maria Zoller
